Bruges or Brugge (in dutch), is a magical town located in West Flanders, Belgium.
When you get to Bruges is getting into a whole different period of time, it really is like a town out of a fairy tale! Cute little houses, cobblestone streets, colorful canals and many more things that make this little place so beautiful!
I was in Brussels and I wasn’t sure if I was gonna be able to go because I didn’t plan with much time ahead but I’m so happy I did because It would’ve been a big sad mistake. Getting there from Brussels is fast and cheap, the train doesn’t take more than an hour and they have service all day long to and from Bruges.
I got there early and as soon as I got off the train I bought a couple of chocolate waffles to go so they would kept me company while I was exploring this magical place.
I was almost at Markt, also known as ‘markt square’ ( a UNESCO world heritage) when it started raining and since there’re a few cafe/restaurants opposite the Belfry I went for a beer and something to eat. If you are in Bruges you have to go to Markt and if you are walking around Markt you have to get in to any of these spots to get a beer or a waffle or something, sitting in one of those little tables looking at the whole historic city centre is pretty cool!
When the rain stopped I continued walking and discovering more of this medieval looking town and when I thought it couldn’t look more like a fairy tale, I saw a horse carriage passed by me haha I know it sounds a little cheesy but believe me it goes so well with everything else. Now you know you don’t need to worry about renting a car here, you can just get one of those 🙂
If you continue walking around 15 minutes you’ll find the canals all surrounded by colorful houses and all looking so photogenic, you can take a canal cruise, I didn’t because it was a little cold so I preferred to walk, but I think is a really cool option and you can see more in less time.
Unfortunately I went to Bruges just for the day, like I said before I didn’t even know I was going at all, but if you go I’d recommend you to stay at least 2 days. Here are some things that you can (and should) do in a one day trip:
- Walk or ride a bike around the city where the cute fairy tale – looking houses are.
- Eat lots of belgian waffles covered in (lots) of whipped cream.
- Walk around Markt and take a lot of pictures.
- Have a beer or something to eat in any cafe/restaurant opposite to the Belfry.
- Go and see the canals and maybe take one of those canal cruises.
- Go shopping… shopping all the chocolates you can because they are delicious!
Well, actually just walking thru the city is so magical and beautiful. If you are in Belgium you have to try to go to Bruges, you won’t regret it! And don’t forget to buy a lot of chocolates 😀
Thanks fo reading, I hope you enjoy it and would love to read your thoughts!
Happy adventures 🙂

This design is steller! You certainly know how to keep
a reader entertained. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to
start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Great job.
I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that,
how you presented it. Too cool!
Thank you so much 🙂
